Movie Date With Mr Peabody & Sherman

20 March 2014 (Thurs):

Bought the kids to a movie before the start of term 2. It was a nice show to watch, coupled with hilarious scenes & some history from all over the world.

There were some characters/scenes like Mona Lisa, Issac Newton, Albert Einstein, Leonardo Da Vinci, the Trojan War, The French Revolution, etc.. The kids did not recognized the characters but laugh heartily at the comical expressions of the characters

There was a scene in which Mr Peabody & Sherman arrived at Mona Lisa's & Leonardo was trying to get her to smile & I blurted out softly " haha...Mona Lisa.. " Lionel wanted to know all about the different characters & so after we got back home, he did a research on the characters. :)

Overall, it was good movie.

Student Smart Card

17 March 2014 (Mon):

R waved the card at me happily, telling me she finally got her very own student smart card. I told her to take good care of it as its a tedious process to have it replace should she lose the card. She wanted to put inside her wallet but I told her that she does not need it during school days. Best to leave it at home.

I erased her identity number & bar code away for security purpose. Thank you :)

BMI status for a Primary 1

17 March 2014 (Mon):

Received a note from the school informing that my gal has been identified as being severly underweight. Shocked, I did a test immediately, using a link provided by a friend. I took R's height & weight measurement & the results indicated my girl was at a healthy range.

I got R to show the test to the teacher & to make sure the teacher updated the school nurse. R came back & told me her teacher has been notified & that she would inform the school nurse.

Hey, my girl is as healthy as a peach :)

YPS 6th Annual Sports Day

07 March 2014 (Fri):

YPS had their 6th annual sports meet this morning at Yishun Sports Stadium. Prior to this event, the students had their selection process & Lionel had been selected to participate. All the P3 students had already known their school house last year & Lionel is in Topaz.

This sports event is only for the P3s to P6s. The lower primary will have theirs sometime in term 3.

I love the way that each individual house had their flags displayed along with the school flag.
Red - Ruby
Green - Emerald
Blue - Sapphire
Yellow - Topaz

Lionel took part in the 8 x 50m relay & his team (Topaz) came in 1st. Topaz was also the overall champion. :)

Individual House March Past: Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire & Topaz

8 x 50m relay. Go Topaz (yellow). Whoa! There were really some sprinters here :) Lionel was the last one in his team to sprint across & their team came in 1st.

Prize Giving. The Champions.

Parents - Children - Teacher Relay. Watch Daddy (in grey) & Lionel, towards the far end, near the field. To help you follow closely, the 1st pair In their team was of a lady (in blue) with her child.

River Safari - Home of Kai Kai & Jia Jia, the pandas

07 March 2014 (Fri):

A belated post on our recent trip to the River Safari. Daddy bought combo tickets for admission into JBP & RS on the 31st January 2014 and today (01 March 2014) was the last day for usage.

The kids were happy to skip abacus & we left around 9am. A check on the internet & we could only booked the boat ride at the counter itself. As early as we were, the slots left for the ride were 1230, 1300 & 1330hrs. The rest of the timing were full.

River Safari was easy to navigate. All you have to do is to follow the guided path & you would be brought around the area. Unlike the Singapore Zoo where you have to decide where you want to go or have a look first, the River Safari was straight forward.

"Mind Your Monkey Manners" - I'm referring to Lionel here :P

The panda bao cost $2.90 each & $11.50 for 4. Actually if you do your sums, its only a difference of $0.10.

Quoted: " Unlike Kai Kai, who is more outgoing by nature, Jia Jia is quite shy & retiring and at times prefers to retreat to her den. "

The 1st video is of KK & then JJ follows next.

In Memory of my Beloved Grandpa - 1926 ~ 2014

03 March 2014 (Mon):

2 weeks had passed since the passing away of my Grandpa. The cause of death was Sepsis Likely Hepatobiliary (in medical terms). To simplify, we termed it as lung failure. He was having laborious breathing on Sat (15 Feb) night & was sent to KTPH. The doctor said he was in a critical condition, telling us to be prepared. From the looks of it, he may not pull through the night....

Well, he never did. At 0259hrs (16 Feb), he left us.

My Grandpa was an easy going man. So my Grandma said to have a simple funeral as well. They were free thinkers so my Dad said to go through a Buddhism ritual. The wake only lasted for 3 days. On Tues (18 Feb), we left for Mandai Crematorium & Columbarium - Grandpa's final resting place.

From young, I have known MediaCorp's Actor Zhu Hou Ren was somehow related to us but never actually knew what was the relation like. During the wake, I found out he was my father's cousin - either the 4th or 5th generation cousin. The kids saw him & Rachel was daring enough to ask: " Are u a good guy or a bad person? " That brought laughter to those who heard it all around as everyone knew Zhu Hou Ren acted in all kinds of roles.
